Tyler was in the driver’s seat and Caroline was in the passenger seat. They were on their way back from Winter Formal. It was their senior year, so the last Formal they would go to in high school. These were the things that Caroline lived for, she loved planning, decorating, and attending these dances. Typically, she would be smiling from ear to ear, going on about how life changing the event was. But tonight was not typical, far from it. At the dance, Rebekah and Klaus Mikaelson peered at them from afar. Damon and Stefan both agreed that they should go over and confront the Mikaelson’s.
“What are they doing? Looking over here at us. If they want to do something, they should do it.” Damon said coldly over the loud music. With one look over his shoulder to his brother, they both started to walk away from the group, towards the Mikaelson’s.
“Damon! You’re right, in a way. If they wanted to do something, they would do it. Don’t walk over there to expose us to all of these people.” Tyler yelled out at a tone where Damon would hear him.
Everyone in his group looked at him. At first, Tyler thought he may have stuck a nerve, but soon Elena agreed with him, and then soon after Bonnie also agreed. Damon coldly stared back at Tyler, where Stefan just returned back towards Elena. Tyler gave eye contact to everyone, and they all seemed ok. Then he made eye contact with Rebekah, and Klaus. He knew that they both were listening to the conversation. It looked like they wanted to say something but they knew that everyone else in his group had just about the same hearing as he did. Both of the Mikaelson’s smiled, before turning around and chatted among themselves.
Tyler thought everything was fine. Elena and Bonnie agreed with him. But Caroline seemed angry, obviously. She hadn’t said a thing the entire car ride. By the time they started to approach their house, she started to talk.
“Why are you defending them?” Caroline asked in a subtle tone without looking at Tyler.
“Care, we’ve been over this” Tyler responded without taking his eyes off the road.
“Well, I want to go over it again… Why are you defending them...?”
“I’m not… I just think that they are way more powerful than us right now, and if you...erm...we attack them, they could quickly overpower us.”
“That’s why you need to stand with us! They are trying to bring more evil into this world and you’re just going to…” Caroline stopped talking as Tyler interrupted.
“Evils? You think I’m evil? Because what they are bringing into the world are more hybrids, werewolves who no longer have to suffer the pain of transforming monthly, and being wild savage beast. There doing us a service.” Tyler argued with his voice louder than before.
“Babe, that’s not what I meant.” Caroline responded in an apologetic tone as she noticed the car slowing down.
Tyler pulled over to the side of the road, and stopped. “I just need some time to think…” He said as he quickly opened his door and ran out at superhuman speed. He could tell that Caroline tried to run after him, but he had a head start and was faster. Now knowing that Caroline was no longer trying to follow, he ran towards the Mikaelson’s manor. Once he arrived, he knocked on their large door.
Almost immediately, Rebekah opened the door.
“We really need to work on your stealth. I could hear you running from a mile away.” Rebekah noted as she swung the door wide opened.
“And hello to you too.” Tyler responded sarcastically.
They both smiled at each other, as Tyler made his way into the home. Once he made it into the living room, he could see Klaus coming down the spiraling, majestic stairs.
“My sister is right, except I could hear you from two miles away.” Klaus said in his usual tone.
He came down the stairs and approached Tyler, before giving him a big hug. “Welcome home brother.”
Everyone in the room smiled. Rebekah poured everyone a glass of gin mixed with blood, and handed one to each. Everyone sat down on the couch, and took a sip of their drink.
“So what news do you bring us on this fine day?” Klaus asked, looking directly at Tyler.
“Well, not much today. But Caroline is starting to question me, but I should be able to get her back on good terms. Damon is being Damon, but Elena seems to be more or less, on my side. And you know Damon rarely does anything that Elena tells him not to do.” Tyler spoke as he sipped his drink.
“The power of Elena,” Rebekah said with a laugh before continuing. “Well good job today. I heard the way you quelled that little uprising, you really do have a way with words.”
“I agree. And you have the best people in the world to be your allies, your possibilities are limitless.” Klaus said with a smile.
There was a moment of silence, before Klaus put his glass into the air, smiling. “To us. Always and Forever.”
“Always and forever,” Both Tyler and Rebekah said simultaneously as they raised their glass.
